Home Sweet Home
This self-initiated project from 2018 remains a source of immense pride. I challenged myself to confront and dispel the prevailing stereotypes surrounding council estates through a video campaign.
Council estates are often unjustly labelled as undesirable places, inhabited by people reliant on benefits, plagued by high crime, drugs, and alcohol. Media representations of these estates further perpetuate these negative perceptions. “Home Sweet Home” is an awareness video centred on the residents themselves, offering an authentic glimpse into the reality of life on council estates.

The interviews take place within the residents’ homes, underscoring that these are indeed homes. The shots inside these houses highlight their beauty and the residents’ pride in them. The contrasting typography in the concluding shots serves as a thought-provoking reminder to viewers not to judge based on media portrayals.
This project involved storyboarding, filming, conducting interviews, editing, and animating the typography for the film. The film won silver in the global Creative Conscience awards in the film and photography category.
